I just returned from a 4-night stay last week. Great Globalist recognition, but I was only upgraded to a Suite after I made a direct request. Half of the rooms in the hotel are under renovation, and in a few months or weeks, they will start renovating the other half. The whole renovation is due to be achieved by late Q2 2024

The staff is very friendly and competent, from the Front Desk to the Regency Club. Same at the restaurant and Housekeeping. Breakfast buffet is large and the quality is great. The Regency Club is small by current standards but never got crowded. The Buffet is small by Doha standards and is not the dinner you could find at other hotels like the Grand Hyatt or IHG properties.

Uber was convenient to use from the hotel. The metro also worked well and starting in December meant that the 5 min walk to the nearest station was acceptable. Interesting point, the Doha metro has a free ride-sharing app that can take you from/to some metro stations to your departure or final destination. You just have to download the Karwa app and click on the Metroexpress feature. Everything is included in your 2 QAR metro ticket. The metro was a very efficient option when the Corniche got busy at night.

There is not much to do around the hotel and nowhere to walk to except DIA or the metro station. One interesting restaurant close by is Jiwan (managed by Ducasse) at the National Museum of Qatar, around 8 minutes by Uber. The views are totally worth it, and the lunch menu is reasonably priced at 100 QAR.

Overall a very nice stay. I look forward to seeing the new pricing once the new rooms are finished as I expect prices will go slightly up.
