I did use this card while I was overseas last month. The transaction did appear as "New Merchant" initially, but a different name showed up when the transaction is posted. I do see the spend and the points posted in the "Points Summary" correctly.

My state taxes transaction shows up as "CA FRANCHISE TAX BOARD". Definitely not "New merchant". This would have been the transaction that pushes me over the minimum spend threshold.
