Hi,

Taxis can be good for short distances esp with luggage.
In Yokohama 2 weeks ago I went from Negishi JR station to Sankeien garden ( could have taken a bus or walked for 45 mins but with limited time in the morning I took a taxi for only Y 1500 each way. Have also taken a taxi from the Conrad to Tokyo station ( for the Nex to Narita) and to Hmamatsucho for the monorail to Haneda in the past for around Y1000 ( Y1300 or so to Tokyo station)
