While driving down the east coast (and back up the west coast from Kenting to Kaohsiung, be aware that there are speed cameras EVERYWHERE, and they frequently change the speed limit, so it's easy to get caught off guard. And in a lot of places, especially on the east coast, the posted speed limit is silly low for the road condition. So your natural inclination will be to drive faster than the posted limit.
I recommend downloading a local app called "
神盾測速照相“ It has the most up-to-date database of the camera locations and will sound a warning whenever you approach one. The downside is that, while you can switch the audio warning language to English, all the app menus are in Chinese. So if you can't read Chinese, you'll need someone to help you set it up and configure. Once configured, it appears as a floating circle over your navigation app (i.e. Google Maps), and shows your speed and the posted speed limit when approaching cameras.
