I guess I don't understand the reasoning behind removing the AS segments requirement. I don't understand why AS would want a bunch of frequent flyers in their mileage plan program who never use their airline. These are flyers who are crediting to AS because it is the easiest possible status to get but who never set foot on an AS plane. What is the benefit to AS? At least with required segments, they were getting some revenue at least because people were forced to actually, you know, fly the airline who was giving them the status. What is in it for AS if someone never flies them?
