You don't mention what status level you have with Alaska, but even at 100K your upgrade prospects for 2 people from Seattle to New York are not great. Since you are using a companion fare, it may be cheaper for you to get premium class by purchasing a higher fare bucket which qualifies for premium class rather than paying the upgrade fee for each seat.
