It may not sway those who are true road warriors racking up miles on a number of airlines, but to those of us doing a majority of flying on Alaska it gives us more incentive to make sure at least $50,000 of our spend goes to our Alaska cards.
I have been predicting that for a while now in the various threads for the annual promos that offered some version of EQM for spend. 4K for $10k is more generous than I expected. I don’t know yet if I will continue to work on AS status (currently seriously contemplating AA status going forward even if AS likely will be my most frequently used domestic carrier). But if I do, it’s nice to have the ability to top off the EQM bucket with some year-end spend as needed. I don’t think I would direct $50k to the AS Visa card, though. Too much opportunity cost.
