Usually there will be a separate post in this forum in case TK is running a 30% or 40% off promotion on TK metal awards (only applicable to TK promotional awards). I believe it has been 11 months since the last TK promotion so it doesn't happen that often. For travel in April/May I would give it some time.
Some would say that if you are able to find promotional award seats from the US to Europe with TK, you should grab the seats now regardless of any promotion or not.

1. On my booking the "Confirm" button did not show up, but after calling customer support everything was confirmed over the phone.
2. On my mom's booking the "Confirm" button DID show up, which led to a summary screen with a final confirmation button/link... but that one generated an error message. Calling customer service didn't help, they mentioned something about not being able to confirm and suggested I call back the next day.
Am I just having bad luck with the TK website or are such problems commonplace?
It would be fair to say that these sort of problems are not unusual. Same for many airlines.
