They may also be able to set up a time limited link for online payment that you access by opening up the reservation in Manage Booking (they've done that for me before). So ask them nicely if there is any way to reserve the ticket and pay online straight after the call if you get pushed back again, you might get lucky. Although the x2 comment doesn't sound promising (unless you want to spend x2)

But not before the app rejected the payment as previously described.
Then, on calling up the first time, the avios were taken and the payment rejected again.
Finally, on calling up a second time, it worked, but the agent still had to complete the booking manually, whilst we waited patiently.
So, after eight failed attempts, Q suites (hopefully) beckon again!
