I know BW properties don't get much love on FT. I am Marriott LTP, Hilton Diamond (expiring this year), and I did a status match to BW Diamond.

In the US, many urban area BWs aren't in great locations (and I won't stay in those), and there are many BWs that are older properties. I realize that many do not like that older vibe. Over the past couple of years, I've stayed in BWs for quick overnights for road trips, or occasionally at the IAD BW for an early morning flight or a late arrival before going home. I've never had an unclean or uncomfortable room. And all of the breakfasts have served fresh fruit and hard boiler eggs so I don't need to eat the processed 'Sysco' food. And those properties have been 1/2-2/3 of the cost of the nearest competitors.

I've experienced several very good European properties this year, most being 'Plus' or 'Premier' properties. These properties, again older, but in some cases historic, have been consistent, clean, comfortable, have had decent breakfasts, and are far less expensive than competitors. And most importantly to me, as these trips are tourism, all are located in the areas that are in walking distance of where I want to tour, i.e. generally city centers (most recently in Zagreb, Athens, and Sofia).

Just food for thought.
