It’s useful for two reasons:
- Marriott has some world class hotels (I have a list of four) which are the best choice in the city, and as a Platinum you will get treated well
- There’s not always a Hyatt around, and you get almost Virtuoso level benefits without it needing to be a luxury hotel

But that is about it.
