We stayed at Andaz Vienna last year for 5 nights on a Deluxe Suite, and we really enjoyed it. The points rate does give us pause since it is quite high redemption vs Andaz. We do have Glob status. Andaz is out of Vienna old town - although it was not a bother for us.
I understand that soft products likely to be better, and there are numerous reports about upgrades to premium suite - just trying to weigh if spending 3-4x on cash rate, or 3-4x the points rate vs Andaz is warranted.
I've stayed at both, and just got back from 3 nights at PH where the location for xmas markets & museums was perfect. But if I was in town for some specific activities where location of stay didn't matter, I'd probably save my $/pt and stay at the Andaz.
I love strolling around Inner Stadt and this is just not as impromptu when you are at the Andaz. I felt like we needed to plan our day more tightly when we were at the Andaz.
In terms of the buildings and rooms, I find both wonderful. If you are a breakfast person, it is definitely better at PH. But everything is a bit precious, and I didn't love the feeling that I had to dress up just to go to breakfast.
