Seems it shows an AS (**) 7322 with 4 seats in N, however when trying to book it on the Alaska portal, no availability shows up. Is that a red herring and I ought to keep looking around?
As noted by WillTravel4Food, you cannot book a partner award as a codeshare. You need JAL award space to be available. NRT-SEA is notoriously difficult for awards. Limited flights. You will have slightly better luck booking connections to SEA. You can use AA's website to do a calendar search for non-stops, but there is nothing there in August right now. But, even Alaska's website calendar search is showing a few dates near the end of August with connections via SFO (Aug. 26, 27, 28, 31). Some of those are from HND so search TYO-SEA. If one of those dates work you could book it now and change later if the non-stop becomes available.
