It's probably best to resign yourself to a Silver life for at least part of the coming year. Putting off your mission until 2024 would be far more efficient than buying Christmas-inflated travel now to cover only the next 12 months in gold dust.
And, at the end of the day, Silver isn't a bad place to be: most of the benefits of higher status, albeit some of them slightly watered down.
