I drop the final segment from time to time so have no issue with that strategy - but in this case I'd be very hesitant and look for alternatives. I'd look for an award or paid flight from CAI anywhere in Asia that connect in BKK - paid is likely in the $7-800 range in business.

Also, why CAI - are you traveling there anyway?
