We had an exceptional 3 night stay here. Many have reviewed, there are great pictures upthread, so I will make some remarks that might be specific to our stay.
- About 2 blocks before arriving, we saw masses of security vehicles. Think what you see if you come upon a place where the US VP is staying. Sure enough, we got to the hotel and were not allowed to drive up to it. We were dropped off at the street. Hotel staff sprung into action, grabbed our luggage, and led us up the driveway. We saw a bunch of people massed at the start of the driveway with cameras at hand. There were large black SUVs parked in front and a red carpet leading to one with the door open. The Crown Prince of Selangor stayed at the Hyatt the prior night and was leaving. He owns a football team that had its final game of the season the prior night.
- I paid for a room, then applied a TSU on top. We were upgraded further to a Petronas Tower suite. My understanding is that the suite I had booked was identical in size and layout, the only difference being the view. While we enjoyed the view, I wouldn't push for it given the opportunities to see the towers throughout other parts of the hotel.
- We had a fruit bowl and a box of lovely chocolates in the room. The fruit bowl was not automatically replenished but they were happy to bring additional fruits on request.
- Breakfast was phenomenal. We always ate in Thirty8 so have no idea what was on offer in the lounge. We stuck to the Asian buffet. One day of three, roti was offered. Highly recommended. One day, they had berry lassi and another day mango lassi. I had noodle soup made a couple days and always took some dim sum. Something completely new to me was the tea stand. Such fun! It had masala tea, tarik tea, and ginger tea. Ginger tea was my favorite. Tarik tea is the national tea of Malaysia. It is a mix of tea and sweetened condensed milk. Any of the teas are made up, then poured from one pitcher to the next which gives it a lovely froth.
- Evening offerings in the lounge were extensive, more than sufficient for a complete meal. Saturday night, a lamb roast was being carved by the chef. Afternoon offering was one small savory and a sweet.
- We had afternoon tea on Thirty8 and the seafood buffet on Sunday. Both were good with extensive offerings. I don't think they were so good that I would repeat them a second time.
- I had my 100th night at Hyatt in 2023 at the hotel. I was given an extraordinary bouquet, literally wider than the young woman who brought it to the room. I was very touched.
- Service was exceptional. The only thing I would suggest to the hotel is to set up a text way to communicate with the front desk. A lot of hotels are doing that these days and it is easier than having to phone.
- I highly recommend the hotel.. It is a template for Hyatts around the world.
