If dropping a segment, I think it's better to do so discreetly vs announcing. Especially as they are different countries - QR may not be verifying your eligibility to enter Thailand, just to transit, creating a host of issues.

Agree if you are planning this - may be worth asking the QR board how QR manages the stop.
If the schedule is the same as today, the stop is 2.75h; given that's quite a long stop, they might dump everyone into the terminal anyway. A long time ago I was on a CX flight from HKG to TYO that stopped in TPE and had to disembark and go through transit security anyway.
