"Ticket is still valid" is unclear, might mean that it still includes that leg, or that the ticket is still there but that leg might have been removed. In other words, that there no longer is a reservation attached to it for that leg.

What does aircanada.com show for that reservation/ticket?
The flight is definitely still on since it's still bookable online now, but only through aircanada, not through united anymore. In the Aircanada.com trip portal, it currently shows a complete reservation, except there's an error when I try to select seats (The seat map does not show). The agent on the phone cannot select seat for me as well, and they are similarly puzzled as to why.

On AC.com it does show this.
This booking appears to have been completed elsewhere than on aircanada.com (with either a travel agent or on another website).

You can view your Itinerary/Receipt by clicking on the link below, but please note that the information displayed may be incomplete.
  • To view your complete booking, or to make changes to it, please contact your travel agent or return to the website on which you made your booking.
  • If you've already started your trip, please contact Air Canada Reservations for assistance.

They probably canceled my reservation when there was a schedule change, and the codeshare slots allocated to UA never got reactivated?
