New Year's Eve ("NYE") 1 Night Stay - Where Does Elite Night Credit?

Sorry, for asking such a question, but with the new format of FT -- I can no longer find/have not mastered where to begin a search to ask intra-forum searches that presumably would have found this answer to my inquiry much more easily -- now, I have to resort to a complete FT search and hope that I can find my answer.

Anyway, I set the question up so that others may be more easily able to find the answer from now on.

If I have a 1 night stay, be it free night certificate, points, or pay and I check-in on 12/31 and checkout on 1/1 of the next year, where does the elite night credit -- due to check-in date or the check-out date?

I have read things in blogs and in these forums that seem to contradict one another, so I wanted to ask for the latest up to date thinking on this.

I would say that militating in favor of the prior year is that Hyatt free nights must be used by the night before the termination of the award night = the check-out date is the termination of the free night (as you will be beyond the limits of the free night if you tried to check-in on the last day listed as it is no longer operative.)

Moreover, I have read that a stay spanning over January 1 with dates before and after can be apportioned (upon request for manual intervention of Hyatt) to go the days on/after January 1 and later, but I also came across a post that noted that a 4 night stay checking out on January 1 XXXX was all slated for the ensuing year's check-out date.

However, I came across a blog post from I believe the points guy, that stated that all chains determine that a 1 night NYE stay is credited to the Check-out date, meaning to the elite night is credited to the new year.

Hence, I am flummoxed. Can anyone kindly enlighten me?

Many thanks!
