Yikes. For safety & security of the employees, airlines typically do not publicly disclose where their crew are staying.
It's extremely poor form for the union to be calling that out in a press release, and for the media to be repeating it.
The media are just doing their job. It's not for them to protect information that has become public knowledge.
As to unions, again, depends which union. If it were a union representing AC workers you might have a point. But it's not.
