I'm there now. It's an OK spot, and an acceptable value as a category 1, but much less value than Hyatt Centric Guatemala -- at least based on my experience as a Globalist. Both Guatemala & San Salvdor are Hyatt Centrics, so this is a fair comparison. The San Salvador location is near to two small to moderate sized malls and is walk-able (5.5 hour) to Vulcan San Salvador. My feeling is the decor emphasizes being "hip", but at the expense of quality or functionality; i.e., it is a cheap-looking aesthetic more akin to a Moxy brand in my estimation. Still it is a little bit better than Hyatt Place/House (without those features.) The pool is on the 3rd floor and has a view of the mall, but is fairly small, as is the gym. It does look fresh/new, but again, didn't convey quality to me. The Guatemala location was in Zone 10 and more central, urban, had a better aesthetic, and lodged several fast-paced Mexican businessn men. Very different vibe, lively.

Here's my experience:

I arrived very early (7a) and was told they have a room ready, but that it would cost $50 for an early check-in. Not unreasonable, but I've been granted early entry very often (even at that hour) whenever available (OR, told to come back at 10-11). Mostly just a value-add. I'd slept well, so no reason to spend for this. I declined and made use of coffee shop and mall nearby, watched a movie, and returned at 3p. The front desk had taken my bags, my signature, and credit card deposit, and the agent muttered under her breath a thank you for being a "member of the program." Notably, the agent did NOT acknowledge Globalist, but I was under the impression she did know. That's fine, they're not required to give Globalists a 7am check-in, and she was nice enough otherwise.

When I returned at 3pm, a different agent asked again for my passport, and offered me either a room with a better view or a "larger room", which she indicated was an upgrade. I took the larger room without asking if it had a bathtub or good desk. It had neither, and was probably an oddball upgrade near the end of the hall, so maybe hard to derive from this data point. I.e., it had a large wall and narrow window that I think were non-standard. The footprint wasn't small, but the configuration didn't allow for a proper desk. Instead, there was a large TV on the wall in the bedroom / "living room", and the room was configured as an altar to the TV. There was a slim, narrow desk immediately below the TV. In contrast, the Guatemala location had bigger room, a functional desk, and a bathtub jacuzzi big enough for 3 or maybe 4 people. Maybe just a better upgrade.

No knock on the door at 5-6pm with a small food tray / gift. Guatemala city did, and it was fresh fruits, some other snack, and a big glass bottle of water.

The breakfast buffet was comparable between the two, hard to say which was better. Probably Guatemala again, but not by a lot. There wasn't someone to greet me on entry in San Salvador either, but they came around eventually. The Monday morning pace was considerably slower than in Guatemala City.

After the buffet (around 9am), I went to the front desk to ask for a 4pm late check-out. She sort of hesitated, said they were full, and eventually said she could only give me 3pm. This is NOT a resort hotel, and I checked -- rooms are available for 5000 points, so they're not really full. It's not a huge inconvenience, but also not something I'm going to hold their feet to the fire for. Had they granted an early check-in earlier, I'd think little of it.

My experience was acceptable here, but not something to get excited about. This was neither of outsized value, nor worth a premium. El Salvador in general is very new to tourism & hasn't calibrated well to the service industry. Multiple other places in the country appeared to see me as a one-time meal ticket, not as a valued customer that would return. I didn't feel much different at this Hyatt.
