I had a weird situation come up where I charged a hotel and the price dropped 3 days later so I canceled and rebooked. The original transaction was credited for the $200 but got clawed back and I haven't received a second credit now a week later, even though the first posted 2 days after - seems like a headache on getting this credit might be looming.


I reached out via chat and inquired about it, including to try to understand why the second time it booked under AMEXTRAVEL.COM and if this was a problem, and the agent responded saying "I can say that the transaction you made is eligible Svyatoslav. How ever i cannot guarantee and unable to tell if the second charge you made will tag as a new transaction for the $200 hotel credit benefit since it was awarded before but it did reverse because of the modification of the booking based on the terms."

Feels like in the end I might have to fight AMEX for the credit. Anyone have experience with something like this?
