4:45 connecting time should be fine. (Much better than the rush required between VA and AC 034 in the morning.) Yes, baggage is checked through to YYZ. And no longer any need for rescreening in YVR.

My Business associates in Australia gave me heads up in mid-Nov VA was canceling flights daily systemwide due to crew; this was continuing into DEC.
My son was booked today from MEL. I checked 4:00AM MEL VA flight status ( Noon YYZ time) time; saw the VA 10:00AM status MEL-SYD. canceled. VA re-booked 9:00AM. Hour later 9:00AM cancelled. Saw VA re-booked believe it or not 7:00PM.
Call AE. call connected within 10 mins. AE agent could see 8:30AM 11:00AM, Noon flight operating & available unable to rebook. He Called help desk. Help was not able to rebook. Help desk called VA. Was told they have taken over the file. Woke up my son @ 4:30AM. Asked him to get to MEL as soon as he can. He arrived @ MEL @ 7:00AM. VA booked him on QF @ 9:30AM in J. VA 11:00AM delayed. 12:00PM cancelled.
from 7:00AM-Noon today MEL-SYD 50% VA cancelled. QF MEL-SYD all flights from 6:00AM-Noon on time .
BTW, QF checked his bag through to YYZ & Checked him on AC 38 & AC 118 gave him BPs in MEL..
Tomorrow will call AC & have his return BNE-MEL on VA changed to QF.
