I read so many different articles yesterday, probably saw the 3% of total flight somewhere else. ....

So yes the credit card advantage certainly would out way that fee.
Note: I contacted citibank yesterday to inquire if my 20k limit on my 2% cash back card could be raised to make this purchase. ~ What a mess! I was on the phone for more than 21/2 hours. Playing phone tag from customer svc. to verification agent back to CServ. then verification 3 times. I requested a supervisor finally. The end result? ~ They suspended my card! ~ It's now on hold until I receive a card in the mail and respond accordingly? Crazy after 2.5 hours that was the outcome. ....
