On fare rules it’d be $55/£35 only, with Avios being refunded. If the cash component is less, they don’t charge you the difference.
In theory they may offer more because of the sympathetic reasons but it’s up to you how hard you push it, wait on the phone, etc.

Thanks. Would they also refund the cash component that I used to purchase avios or would they refund only avios or the "full" avios (i.e., the avios that I had plus the avios that I purchased)?
The family member was supposed to be on a later flight but on the same day.
