Just as a data point, security lines 1-8 in MUC have the new scanners and you don't have to take anything out of the bag (electronics, liquids... all stays in). Unfortunately, most Business Class, and First Class security check lines still have the old machines.
They really should take a look at the scanners in Rome FCO. I didn’t have to remove anything. All electronics/liquid stays inside. And I saw that they can rotate the bag on the monitor.
Gentleman I was flying with explained to me that it is 3D scanner and most big airports already have this functionality but they don’t use it for whatever reason.
It really speed whole process up.
