Just as a data point, security lines 1-8 in MUC have the new scanners and you don't have to take anything out of the bag (electronics, liquids... all stays in). Unfortunately, most Business Class, and First Class security check lines still have the old machines.
My anecdotal experience with the new scanners is they are slower to process bags / trays and send a higher percentage of them to secondary screening.
If there is a similar length queue at the normal scanner, I would currently prefer that one, presuming that my assessment of the folks already in it is they might have a clue and it won't be amateur hour getting their stuff on the belt.
I even had a bag sent to secondary at a new scanner, the guy who processed it just stared at the screen for a minute then handed me the bag without actually inspecting anything manually. 🤷♂️
