At SFO a couple of weeks ago there was one person at a kiosk, hav8ng problems getting recognized and one person in front of me. This was around 8 or 8:30 PM for a flight to SYD.
The Attendant was motioning people to wait even though only one kiosk was being used.
I just walked to the Pre line where there was no queue at ll and walked through probably a bit faster than if I waited for a CLEAR kiosk with a bit shorter walk to the agent checking your passport.
In the 8 months I’ve had CLEAR, I’ve used it maybe 3-4 times departing from SFO. In the aggregate if I saved any time it’s probably less than 10 minutes.
I won’t be 1K next year and I certainly won’t be renewing.
The facial recognition system seems slower than the ones at the gate or at global Entry.
I also used systems at MEL and SYD on this recent trip and those also seemed to process faster and more reliably.
