I figured that was why as well. However, in all my travels in the U.S. and internationally, I haven't bothered using clear bags for liquids in a long time, definitely well over 100+ times going through security. I think I may have had to actually take out liquids and put them into a clear bag maybe once or twice that whole time, and even that was years ago ago.
