I mean I probably get $695 of value from it, so in theory I shouldn't need a retention offer to renew and credit to Amex, they've correctly asserted this is the case.
However my Citi AA Exec + CSR combo next year probably has me dropping it, particularly with how they're nerfing the $200 hotel credit & the changes to SkyClub access from 2025.
They made the case to me that I got more than $695 benefit from the card. My point to them was that many of the tings they consider value, I do not. Walmart + they considered value, but I wouldn’t take it if it weren’t free. For me, what I valued was 240 streaming credit, 200 airline credit, TSA Global, and Int’ airline program (only in years I traveled internationally). Always felt I was chasing the $250 difference. Love my switch to both Hilton Aspire/Surpass combo for status and will get 3-4 Hilton nights free, even before Hilton points. Never feel as if I’m chasing anything.
