I had a scenario where I was 2 or 3 on the upgrade. A buy up was offered for 179. The guy who was number 1 was badgering the gate agent as to why he wasn't being upragrded yet. He was rather obnoxious. After he moved back I spoke to the gate agent and she confirmed the exact time that the computer would upgrade the number 1. I kept eye contact with here, and told her I was going to do the buy up at the last possible second. I have the screen ready, she gave me a thumbs up, and I grabbed it and jumped to F and appeared upgraded.

She then paged me to the podium and said it was my lucky day because I was now in first and my seat monoitor wasn't functioning, She gave me a TC for 150.00. Boarded, and seat entertainment was fine! IT pays to be nice!
