Put another way: It boils down to pettiness. There are a lot of petty things to opine about. One could put many items on the list: boarding priority, upgrade priority, pre-departure drinks, blankets in first class, admit to club perks, and yada.

So WTBD (what's the big deal)? We all watch the ability/capacity of the airline to absorb comment/complaint and try to improve.. Sometimes they appear to listen and try new things, and occasionally get it right. My observation is, over time, that they do seem to adapt (or give the illusion thereof) and try to change or get it right. My concern is about inconsistency. I fly SFO-ORD at least 4-5 x/month. Always pay for F. The AS price nearly always beats UA's, even by half. So, when I board from SFO, there are usually nice blankets on the seats in F. Almost never on the return/type segments (ORD-SFO). Why? Dunno. My other major route is SFO-JFK, which also beats AA and DL by more than a mile in price for F class. AS always has blankets, in both directions. Probably have to thank DL and AA for that. Pre-departure drinks on any AS flight? Even with all the posts I've reviewed on this service, the common theme has been inconsistency. I believe that. I see it all the time.

I don't know how AS could (or even would) produce and distribute subsets of luggage tags, as to whether one got an "earned" MVP100 status" or had it dished out as a perk for a DL flyer to entice more business.

Hoping not to get too petty about this, or anything else. I do wish AS management had not made the gambit/decision to dish out status to competing programs such as DL, without taking into account the earned positions of currently loyal pax. Basic market forces will, I hope, get this to equilibrate. There are many reasons why passengers hit the "send" button to purchase a ticket. Frequent flyer perks, in-flight services, overall performance with booking and punctuality are just some of them. Luggage tags way further down on the list. Many of us who flew a whole lot would appreciate them, if the airline could get them out in time to enjoy them.
