Then you could cancel until 11:59pm local time of the hotel on December 30th. At 12:01am December 31st you’d be assessed a penalty of 1 night’s cost.
Also, for part 2 that’s not the worst thing. That’s just if you cancel within the 2 days of check in. If you cancel on the 2nd day of the reservation they’ll charge more.
