Not a lot of intel at RSW, so hope this helps a fellow traveler. Skip to the end for inventory info.
Hertz Experience
Upon deplaning, there are two primary exits from the terminal area to the rental car building which houses all the rental car companies and their kiosks. Hertz is closest to the left terminal exit when leaving baggage claim.
Once in the rental car building, there was a line of 8-12 wary travelers for Hertz, the longest of all the kiosks on a Thursday evening at 23:30. As a PC (or Gold for that matter), you can skip the line at the desk and are directed to the board which is outside the rental building in the adjacent parking garage. The left and middle exit doors are closest to the Hertz sub office in the garage and the board that directs you to which section. It is another 30-40 yards from the middle door.
Onwards to the garage, where no Hertz personnel were spotted (or needed). Board directed me to the PC canopy, marked by overhead signs. I had my partner in tow with heavy bags, who did not appreciate my shopping for cars at midnight, so after trying the Ford Explorers and a Jeep Wagoneer, we picked an Explorer that smelled the best. 6,400miles, full tank, mostly clean, and freshly washed. Loaded up, drove to the exit gate, inspected by an agent (that services all agencies) who needed only my drivers license, and was free to go once I got my Hertz rental receipt.
Now to the fleet intel… I did not get a good look at Gold Canopy, but here is the scoop on PC section and what I recall of the upgrade section. Again, this was 23:30 on a Thursday; I paid for a C Intermediate when booking as a PC. YMMV.
Presidents Circle canopy:
16-20 spaces if I recall correctly just beyond the upgrade section.
- 3 x Ford Explorers, all sub 9k miles (SUV)
- 2 x Ford Flex (crossover SUV)
- 2 x Chevy Tahoe (SUV)
- 1 x Toyota Sienna (minivan)
- 1 x Jeep Cherokee Wagoneer (SUV); not very clean… evidence of a croissant massacre all over this one
- 3 x Dodge Challenger (sedan)
- 1 x Dodge Durango (SUV)
- 2 x Nissan Pathfinder or equivalent (SUV)
- 1 x Toyota Tacoma crew cab (4 seat pickup)
Upgrade Section:
I blazed by this section so didn’t get a close look. It is around a dozen spaces closest to the board.
- Infiniti Sedan
- Infiniti SUV
- 3 other cars, possibly a BMW X5 or X3?
Overall, content with the process as I didn’t have to interact with anyone, skipped the line/no wait, okay with the selection of cars (new, safe, and mostly clean), and got a product class above what I paid for. Win for PC at RSW.
