We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for two nights and the Shangri-La for two nights a few months ago. The Grand Hyatt has an amazing layout in the lobby, which we were blown away by. And it's location close to the metro is a major plus. But we appreciated the service and room at the Shangri-La more. For context, we used Amex FHR for both stays and were upgraded to the next "tier" of room at each property.
We'll be back in Taipei for the lunar New Year in February. We play to stay at the Shangri-La again at least, but are also looking into a night or two at the Mandarin Oriental.
