I apologies if the question has already been answered before, but any points or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have an SPG Gold Card. I recently received a complimentary promotional Hilton Honors Gold card (unsolicited) in the post. In recent times I have been loyal to SPG. I like their new comfortable beds and the good rate of earning airmiles. I also appreciated it when I have been upgraded to the Club area for the free nibbles and drinks etc. although this does not happen very often.

My question is, with a Hilton Gold card would you recommend switching to Hilton? What are the advantages? Am I likely to get an upgrade? I have a two week trip coming up and am keen to gain any opinions about whether I should remain loyal to SPG or not?
