Delayed luggage missing items

Apologies for a new thread on this, but having searched the forums I'm not coming up with all I would appreciate advice on.

Flew back from Cape Town on 26 November. No direct seats in the cabin I wanted so connected (on one ticket) via Johannesburg. Flight was on SAA which, having only just returned, was very late. BAH managed to hold a seat for me on both my original flight and a later flight just in case. Landed late and got a boarding pass for the later flight, and some time in the lounge. Overall relatively hassle free, and helped by knowing to phone the duty line early and not wait for checkin staff to debate my options for me.

Landed at LHR, checked my AirTag and inevitably my luggage did not make the flight so didn't wait for the end of the luggage belt and just filed a claim and left the airport.

My luggage eventually arrived home, after a week, on 03 December. Got around to unpacking last night and I appear to be missing a number of items of clothing. What are my best options? My travel insurance are keen for me to claim from the airline before them. Can I do so?
