I'm happy top-off is offered and not suggesting they change it.

However #1 is feasible and reasonable. Is it really impossible to issue a 54-week or 56-week certificate instead of 52? It would be in the spirit of the FNA since practically speaking, you don't really get the whole year as advertised.

I don't know if #2 is unfeasible, but it seems reasonable. It would not change effective breakage, since you can achieve it today by canceling and re-applying at the right time. Offering this would lessen the chance someone leaves Marriott in the hiatus. If you opened a card 10+ years ago with a cemented anniversary date, this is the only option to fix it.
they want you traveling and staying at Marriott more. The benefits of the card are for that purpose.

If they give you 56 weeks, you'll be able to use 2 years worth of certificates for 1 stay. They want 2 different stays. It'll never happen
