1) For many people once they’ve experienced it themselves they push to continue it. A lot of psychologists call it the “First Class Effect”. Where once someone sits in first class it’s exceedingly difficult to go back to economy, the same can be said with Globalist I believe.
2) Going from 0 aka “Member” to Globalist is brutal. It’s significantly easier to go from Globalist at 0 nights to retaining Globalist with 60 nights, if that makes sense. Basically the 60 nights stayed to retain status would be much more enjoyable and easier to do since you already receive those benefits rather than doing it with no status and trying to get to Globalist for the first time.
3) I think challenges will remain (or double EQN promo) a major factor for loads of Globs in the Bilt promo was cheap MGM stays, that’s no longer available so Hyatt has more incentive to try again.
This is not to say it’ll detract, just a few points I thought worth mentioning.
I agree with #2 - as I am one of those people. LT Marriott Titanium and Hilton Diamond and it would've been painful to switch to Hyatt. But they offered a program where I could do it with 30 nights, so I did (Glob lite as they say) and now for a few years I've been 60+ butt in bed true Globalist. Hyatt's gain was Marriott's loss (and to a lesser extent IHGs/Accors).
I guess all I'm saying is there may be a lot of people who don't have the nights to retain it (even if started out with 20 and Glob status). I'd imagine that'd be the majority (of course I could be quite wrong). Just some random thoughts.
Re #3 - it is my assumption Hyatt is doing this because Glob #s are down (not up). It would seem unwise of them to do this if Glob numbers were strong as they'd dilute Glob benefits and would lose those of us who they are trying to keep loyal to them. Again, could be wrong. Just my thoughts.
