...my thoughts exactly. I remember the promise American made to the city of St Louis after their acquisition of TWA. Within a year the city went form a major hub and international gateway to just another spoke on AA's system. Then there was Alaska's acquisition of Virgin America the latter which had their A320/321's fitted with specially designed interiors that were attractive and comfortable. Alaska merged them into their fleet for a while but then disposed of them to maintain their "one type" 737 fleet (like Southwest).

One of my concerns is widebody A-330 service from the west coast to HNL will be replaced by Max 9s and 10s, the other is a decline in cabin service quality (Hawai'ian was literally the only carrier in the The States that received decent reviews in this department). Somehow sandwiches, salty snacks, and bottled water (at an extra charge) doesn't cut it on a 6 hour flight. THis leaves only a handful of flights (total) out of Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles with wide body aircraft

I'm also a veteran air traveller dating back to the regulated days. and in my mind the 737 will always be an aircraft designed for operating on short and medium haul routes out of small town airports that didn't generate the loads, and had runways long enough for larger jets. The stubby undercarriage made it possible to load, unload, and service with a minimum of ground equipment required. The 737 was a great concept for it's day offering the same cabin width as a 707 and savings for the airline with a two person flight crew, but I feel it's become a bit "long in the tooth" after nearly 60 years and certainly not something I'd consider for such a long flight (unless it was a BBJ version).
