And sorry for question that most likely has been lifted previously, but I am curious to hear any tips on whats the easiest way to find AY (or OW) award seats?

I am looking via front page award search, and most often its just showing "route is not available on your requested date (or smth like that". Is it really only option just to test random dates? I have flexibility in regards of destination and schedule so this feels a bit frustating to randomly type destinations and dates.
