Number wise, they are holding their own at SFO. Up until July 2023, they have a 12% share of the SFO market making them the second largest carrier . To put it perspective , the third largest carrier Delta, has an 8% share. I still consider SFO a hub for AS. Meaning, other cities connect through SFO to onward destinations. Before the HA announcement, SFO was their second largest station passenger wise.
SFO is a lot like a giant LGA: huge o/d and terrible connecting point.
A lot of the animosity for AS here is because they have never really opened a SFO lounge. (They took their time with the old AA lounge and removed the nice furniture.)
I tend to like AS product, and hope they can offer a competitive product at SFO.
Also—AS needs to add flights to SFO from RNO. My personal wish.
