Yes, but were you going to blow a Y/B upgrade coupon on the short-hop AS flight? The Shuttle flights were the only F product around that didn't require an upgrade instrument (on UA, that would have been the 500 mile certificates), which once you ran out of the comp ones, you had to buy them. For the free upgrade as a 1K, I could put up with 3 cocktails on a flight in plastic cups
