You can use miles or AA travel/flight credits from your AA number with AS on the ticket. I do so all the time.
I however, just made a rookie mistake the other day. While on a flight, I decided to swap a bunch of upcoming flights to AS credit because some other travel circumstances changed and putting those segments toward AS makes more sense. I used the chat agent through the app. That was the error. They did input my AS number into the AA reservations on 10 PNRs for me... but they put it in as my KTN replacing the correct KTN in there.
