It's extremely well documented but people (not just on FT) constantly go to Philosophers Path/Kiyomizudera/Arashiyama bamboo forest etc. after 8am during peak cherry blossoms / fall foliage season and then are *shocked pikachu* about crowding rather than accepting that it is what it is. Even though everyone is traveling under the same conditions wrt revenge travel, social media, and the exchange rate.
I like the stuff in southwestern Shiga prefecture, same seasonality and 1/100 of the crowds.
