Flights were DPS => KUL => NRT fwiw, printed as MH0852 and MH0088 so within the range, but ANA having marketed the ticket may do me in here (evidence is the 205-* eTicket number printed on both boarding passes)
That's not what "marketing carrier" means.
The marketing carrier is the carrier in the flight number.
The operating carrier is the carrier with their logo on the plane
The ticketing carrier is the airline that issued the ticket
All 3 can be different (though it's rare). To answer your question, no, the ticketing carrier is not relevant.
