I first visited BKK in 2002-2003, and only a limited Skytrain service was open then. There was some subway service in 2004, but I think it was a couple years later before it had more coverage.
ok, i looked it up!
The Sukhumvit and the Silom line of the skytrain opened in 1999 and the first subway line through the heart of the city (blue line) started early 2004
