Stayed here for a weekend a couple of days ago. Booked the cheaper available room in advance, Executive Tower room.
When arrived to the airport they could manage my request for transfer to the hotel easily, the staff at the airport was kind and welcoming.
At the hotel, we were dropped directly at the Tower entrance which is not luxury at all. The check in area is poor and nowhere what you used to experience at an ITC hotel. The staff at the check in desk looked nervous, not kidding. No greetings as a bonvoy member but they upgraded the room to the bigger tower room. I've checked and they had several suites available at time of check in.
The room is big, well furnished. They kept everything else on the minimum level (1 comb, 1 toothbrush, no toilette paper, etc).
Lounge has happy hours between 6pm to 8 pm. Tried one of them which is next to the main front desk but I guess they have more, but no sure and didnt look for it. You can order, they have alcohol, coffee, etc. At least the staff were kind here.
Tried two of their restaurants + Breakfast.
Avartana is excellent, the staff were kind and attentive, welcoming. The food was really good! For this amount of money I think its a must and you can try so many things with the menus. Loved it!
The Italian is something, as a European, wouldn't call good or ok. Bad experience, the food quality was not good at all. On top of the general statement, everything was salty too.
Breakfast is good, so many options like you used to it when you are a frequent ITC guest (eg ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru)
On the full day there when got back to the room, we noticed the housekeeping was here. There was no toilette paper, cleaning stuffs were left in the bathroom. Water and glass wasnt prepared, so had to call them to make these things right.
At check out I asked for transfer to the airport and asked them to prepare the bill and Im leaving in an hour. Everyone was cold, at Breakfast the staff almost everytime ran into me and they did not say a thing. Not kind, and not luxury at all...
Definitely will go for another hotel next time, when I have to stay in Chennai. Stayed at Westin a year ago, which was a way better experience even during Covid. Would try Sheraton resort or go for Westing again, but Chola is on the no-go list now. Disappointment.
