I'm surprised that anyone visiting Sukhumvit Road could miss it given the elevated train line running down the middle of the road and the massive concrete stations connected to every shopping mall! Bangkok's metro network is still being developed and has a few peculiarities, but it's cheap, fast, and air conditioned. The Airport Rail Link is cheap, frequent, and fairly fast. Certainly my preferred way to get to/from BKK.
