I think your second paragraph answers your first. WN and that large state in the lower left of the continental US are a pretty big deal to AS and HA both and the combined airline will be a stronger competitor.
Local loyalty is a yes, but… sort of thing. If AS takes care of HA’s airport and in-flight folks, no one is going to shed a lot of tears for their management team.
